Explain Pain Target Concepts Worldwide

There has been much global interest in the notion of Target Concepts for Explain Pain education, particularly since using them in the recent Pain Revolution bike ride and educational outreach program in Australia. We would now like to share the Target Concepts translated into Turkish and Italian.

Consider target concepts as gateways to new knowledge, movements, activities and freedom. Establishing target concepts to service your clinical objectives is a fundamental part of an Explain Pain curriculum. Without them, you are practicing Explain Pain Lite and there is too much of that out there.

Our list is a guide. Even though we suggest 10, you could merge some and add new ones. For example ‘the modern story of osteoarthritis’ could be a target concept with a person with OA. For the pain revolution ride we included ‘Persistent pain is best treated within your community”. We continue to refine the terminology and invite you to do so as well.

Best wishes

-David
