“I know how much your guys are interested in the interpretation of the pain experience. I have a client with ongoing and very severe pain all over her body. Her daughter is doing an art project for year 12 and she is doing it on her mother’s experience. The dove being her faith and the rest an interpretation of the pain (this is the small version and she is now working on a larger version of it).
Thought it was super powerful from a bystander’s point of view.”
It’s a striking expression of her mother’s pain – a study in colour with the prominent contrast between the florid red and the dull, flat grey. One can’t help but wonder about the experiences, of both the young woman and her mother, that may have lead to this rendition of suffering. A forceful reminder that the impact of persistent pain reaches beyond the individual experiencing it to their families and loved ones.
